Data controller

The data controller is Giuseppe Paolini, sole trader operating as “Linea d’Orizzonte B&B”, based at Contrada Santa Cecilia 14, 66023 Francavilla al Mare (CH), Italy — Italian tax code PLNGPP93R08C632E. Contact and bookings

When you write by email, phone or WhatsApp, or book through the portals, the details you provide — name, contact information, dates and the content of your message — are used solely to reply and handle your request or stay (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, performance of a contract and pre-contractual steps). They are not sold to third parties for commercial purposes. We do not send newsletters and the site has no account registration.

Guest registration (legal obligation)

For every guest we are required by law to report identifying details to the Police via the Alloggiati Web portal (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR and Art. 109 of the Italian Public Security Act). The data is only transmitted to the authority: we keep no copies of identity documents at the property.

Payments

Payments for stays are handled through the booking portals (Booking.com, Airbnb). The property neither collects nor stores guests’ credit-card details.

Video surveillance

The property has a CCTV system to protect the safety of people and property (the controller’s legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The cameras cover the entrance, the shared kitchen area and the car park; “area under video surveillance” notices are displayed. Footage is kept for a limited time — usually 24–72 hours and in any case no longer than 7 days — unless otherwise required by the judicial authority, and is never disclosed.

Guest Wi-Fi

The property offers free Wi-Fi. Connecting requires no registration and no personal data.

Cookies and map

The site uses only necessary technical cookies, essential to its operation, which require no consent. There are no statistics, marketing, advertising or profiling cookies, and no consent banner. The map on the contact page loads only after an explicit click: before that, nothing is sent to Google. Should usage statistics be introduced in future, this policy will be updated and the processing will take place only with your consent.

Booking portals (OTAs)

We also receive bookings through Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia. These portals are independent data controllers: any data you enter with them is governed by their own privacy policies. From them we receive the data needed to manage your stay.

Recipients and processors

Data may be processed on our behalf by our accountant (the firm “Professional coworking”) for accounting and tax obligations, and by our hosting provider Hostinger, which may record technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operation. Some providers or portals may also process data outside the European Union, under their own policies and with appropriate safeguards.

Data retention

Booking data and accounting documents are kept for the period required by tax and civil law, usually 10 years (Art. 2220 of the Italian Civil Code). Plain enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept only as long as needed to reply, then deleted. CCTV footage follows the timeframe set out in the relevant section.

Your rights

Regulation (EU) 2016/679 gives you the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, www.garanteprivacy.it).
